Berkeley Blossoms

colorway 2
Submitted to Cotton for Universal Design: Textile Design Competition

Berkeley Blossoms is a collection of digitally printed fabrics intended to encourage continual usage in the home from season to season. These prints were inspired by my idea to recreate classic patterns in contemporary hues and to allow for longer usage of home textiles for children. With comfort and versatility in mind, this collection of printed fabrics is designed for the need for home textiles to withstand throughout all of life's accidents. The intention for these fabrics would be to incorporate CottonWorks technology, such as STORM COTTON and PurThread, to better serve its consumer. By applying STORM COTTON’s moisture repellent properties the worry of any accidents occurring is no longer an issue. To further the fabrics capabilities, I would blend cotton and polyester yarn embedded with PurThread antimicrobial recycled silver salts. By blending the two yarns together these fabrics would not only stay smelling fresh and clean between washes but prevent the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew.
